November 2025 Tech Talk – Ham Rig Recommendations

KD5HIY 9 November, 2025

Join Us Saturday Morning, November 29 at the EOC For a Roundtable Discussion on Ham Rig Recommendations..... Christmas is coming and Prices are Going Up. Discussion Leaders Michael KJ5AJU and Steve W5HK • It is that time of the year to think about that new rig, and there is a lot happening. Is it really now an SDR world "only" in new HF radio offerings? • A few new product offerings are coming up along with some "modest" (pseudo?) updates to old names. • There used to be just Kenwood, Icom, and Yaesu. We now have to add Xiegu to any serious discussion. • Price increases have finally occurred with major changes on several popular radios and upgraded models. • Why do some of us like our own brand over the others?? Is it really personal preference or ..... • We will share thoughts with each other, and hope to provide some solid recommendations on that major rig purchase. •If you are operating portable or POTA what do you need to be successful?? • What is the one radio model that changed the whole game in Amateur Radio???
