May 2025 Tech Talk – HurstARC AREDN Network

KD5HIY 14 May, 2025

Join Us Saturday Morning, May 17 at the EOC For An Introduction to AREDN and Recent Updates to the HARC AREDN Network Presented by John K5SKR and Steve KM5HT • What is AREDN? ... The Amateur Radio Emergency Data Network has a main goal of "delivering quality, high speed, data communications." • AREDN firmware allows hams to repurpose common consumer Wi-Fi equipment for use on Part 97 and shared Part 15 channels • What kind of equipment is needed and what applications work with AREDN? • The Hurst Amateur Radio Club uses this technology heavily to provide internet access to the DMR repeater and for remote access services. • We will provide a demonstration of AREDN path exploration. • A number of changes have been made to our system and we will review these • AREDN is an excellent example of emergency communications technology coupled with a practical use on a daily basis. The AREDN can provide internet access; and it supports the internet link required for the DMR repeater for connection into the CBridge.
